I have long been a lover of words and began my professional editing career editing part time for a nonprofit organization in 2005.
I then moved to Philadelphia and was employed full time as a corporate proofreader for 7 years, honing my sharp attention to detail by proofreading business documents and reports for clients.
I have been a freelance editor specializing in academic writing for the past 6 years. I also currently oversee a university writing center in the Philadelphia region.
I received a BA in English from the University of Vermont and an MA in Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania.
I also hold a Master Level Certification from the College Reading & Learning Association and have specific training in writing pedagogy.
My research interests lie in adult literacy, self-sponsored writing practices, disability studies, and writing center pedagogy. I am also a writer and am enthused by the work of libraries, independent presses, and those who work to make writing and reading more accessible to all.
